Cast off your worries and cares for some good old-fashioned community fun at Spellbound II: Experiencing Yesteryear! On Sunday, Sept. 12th, beginning at 5:00 pm, there will be a spelling bee, musical entertainment, a picnic supper complete with homemade ice cream, and both a silent and live auction. Come in casual attire ready to have a good time with friends and neighbors at Spellbound II.
Supper consists of pork or beef sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad, cake and homemade ice cream! Iced tea and coffee will be served and a cash bar will be available.
While you are there, considering bidding on beautiful hand-crafted items and antiques as part of the silent auction. The live auction will include quilts (by the Calico Cut-Ups, Maud Bentley, Vi Finnegan, and others) and other treasures (old Independence items like a "Flying Horse" toy made in Independence Toy Co. in early 1900s and soda bottles manufactured at the Independence Bottling Works from the late 1800s.
All profits will go towards programming at the Independence Public Library. Such offerings as author visits, book discussions, craft and how-to programs will be funded through this event.
The sponsoring groups of Beta Sigma Phi, the Calico Cut-ups Quilt Guild, Friends of the Library, LACES, Ladies Musical Society, and P.E.O are busy planning for this fun event. Below are some ways you can get involved and support the library's programs. Click on either link below to bring up the sponsorship form that needs to be turned in by August 6th.

For $100, you can help sponsor the event and receive recognition. (No
tickets or spelling team come with this option).
Come to Spellbound! Buy your ticket for $20 at the Independence Public Library, BankIowa or Security State Bank.
Make sure you get your tickets early. There is limited seating and no tickets will be sold at the door the night of the event.
