How to Download Overdrive Media Console program:
Go to http://www.indylibrary.org/ and click on “Neibors Audio book downloads!”
Click on “Quick start guide”
Click on “OverDrive Media Console version 1.0 (or later)”
Part ways down the page, click on “To download OverDrive Media Console, click here.” Then click “To go the OverDrive Media Console download page, click here.” (If you have pop-up blocker you might have to hold down the Ctrl key.)
A new screen will come up (www.overdrive.com). Click on “Click to download OverDrive Media Console Version 2.1.”
Click “Save.” If that is where you want to save the program, go ahead and click “Save” again.
A dialog box may be displayed when the download is complete. Click the 'Open' button to begin the installation. Otherwise, locate the '.exe' file (ODMediaConsoleSetup.exe), and double-click it to begin installation (go into my documents and ODMediaConsoleSetup.exe should be there).
It will ask if you want to run this file, click “run.” The program will then download and then it will ask you if you want to run the software, click “run.” The program will now install.
A screen will pop up saying “Welcome to the Overdrive Media console setup wizard.” Click “next.” A software license agreement will come up, click on “I agree” then “next.”
At the 'Select Installation Folder' screen, either browse to the location to which you would like to save the program, or leave the default location and click “next.” Click “next” again.
It will say installation complete, click “close.” To open the Overdrive program, go to Start, Programs, Overdrive Media Console.
How to check out and listen to an Audio book:
Go to http://www.indylibrary.org/ and click on “Neibors Audio book downloads!”
Browse until you find an audiobook that you would like to check out. Then click “add to cart.” If you are ready to download the book, go ahead and click “proceed to checkout.”
Sign in to your account by clicking “sign in,” then go to Independence library and type in your library card number.
Click “confirm checkout”.
Click “download” and then “okay” You can now download part or all of the audiobook. Click “okay.”
You will now be able to transfer the audiobook to a cd or mp3 player. Or you can listen to the audio book from your computer under the Overdrive Media console program.
