Lone Calder Star by Janet Dailey
Janet Dailey graduated from the Independence High School and went on to become a bestselling author of romance books.  The ninth book in the Montana’s Calder Series just came out this summer.  Following is a summary:  When the manager of the Cee Bar Ranch southwest of Fort Worth disappears, former Treasury Department ATF agent, Quint Echohawk, the grandson of Chase Benteen Calder, is sent to Texas to discover why.

Library Tidbits:

• Call to find out about our free basic computer classes 334-2470!  There are four offered in September with limited seating. 
• Story Times are 9:30 am Wednesdays starting in September.  The schedule is Sept. 7^th Welcome Back, Sept. 14^th Grandparents, Sept. 21^st Autumn Begins, and Sept. 28^th On the Farm. 
• We are planning on Riverside Cinema (movies in the park) again next summer!  If you have movie suggestions, let us know at the library.
• An Author presentation and book signing is coming up Monday, Oct. 3^rd, 6:30-8:30 pm at the Independence VFW.  Thoi Nguyen will talk about his book, The Making of a Believer: From the Rice Paddies of Vietnam to the Cornfields of Iowa. His book is the true story chronicling his life and culminating in his family’s dramatic escape from Vietnam. 
• Stop at the library table at the East and West Elementary Open Houses.
• We have new prenatal DVDs and one video that were donated by Buchanan County Health Center’s Community Care through funds from Building Directions for Families (BDF).  Check them out and receive a packet of information about pregnancy, labor, and care of infants.
• Teen Read Week is coming up…Oct. 16^th-22^nd!
