The Five-Minute Book Club

So many books, so little time. For all those busy people, the Independence Public Library has a new service made possible by the Friends of the Library: an Online Book Club that delivers books electronically! Each day, Monday through Friday, the library emails subscribers a portion of a book that takes about five minutes to read. They're able to read two or three chapters from a book during the week. If they like a book, they can check it out from our library, either through our collection or through Interlibrary Loan.  Each week the library features new books.  You can sign up for the service at the library’s web site: www.indylibrary.org

This new service makes it easy for people to get back into the habit of reading in just 5 minutes a day.  With nine book clubs to choose from, there's something for everyone. Patrons can read Fiction, Non-Fiction, Romance, Business, Good News, Teen, Mystery, Science Fiction, and there's even a Pre-Publication Club. You can start reading books in your email before they're even published with the pre-publication club.  You will have to wait until those are published before checking those out at the library!  Now you can discover great books, even if you're too busy to visit the library.  Choose one club or several.

Currently subscribers are reading the following books (week of June 11):
Fiction:  Drenched in Light by Lisa Wingate
Non-Fiction:  Teach with your Heart by Erin Gruwell
Romance:  Aussie Rules by Jill Shalvis
Business:  Leading at a Higher Level by Ken Blanchard

Teen:  Hit the Road by Caroline B. Cooney
Mystery:  To Thine Own Self be True by Judy Clemens
