Help for the Challenges of Parenting and Child Care
It is exciting to view the world through the eyes of a child. Things that we take for granted, or even despise, can become little worlds of wonder and joyful discoveries! Even snow in April, bugs, dusting, and two clanging pans take on a new perspective when experienced by a little one. It’s a great opportunity for adults to learn from those who are still innocent and untarnished.
Though the experience of parenting or caring for a child is absolutely a thrill in many ways, there are those days (sometimes minutes) that seem to never end. The ones when you count every second until bedtime or wish you could be whisked away to any quiet retreat during the challenges of a difficult mealtime come to my mind.
Sometimes those challenges can be learning opportunities also. Though I don’t always find the time and energy to seek out opinions or tips from those that are more experienced or from those who seem to have been especially successful parents, I’m glad to have the resources and opportunities to do so. Thanks to Building Direction for Families (BDF), the Independence Public Library has added $500 worth of new materials to our library collection. They are all parenting resources and are a wonderful addition to the materials you can borrow from your library.
Here are a few selections from the resources purchased. The first number is the call number (helps in locating the book on the shelves), but we would be glad to help you find or reserve any of these materials!
