Your Library Connection

Through the Eyes of a Child

In the last five years, the Independence Public Library visits have increased by 35%.  The number of visits in 99-00 was 33,815 and the number of visits in 04-05 was 45,757!

Following are some comments from a few of our young patrons.  Mrs. Hill’s second grade class came to the library last fall.  All of us have a great time learning about libraries and reading when groups visit the library.  If you have a group you would like to bring to the library, please give us a call.  Here is a small sampling of the thank you letters we received from Mrs. Hill’s second grade class:

Dear Librarians,
Thank you for letting us come to the library.  I learned a lot from you librarians.  I liked the trip there.
Your friend,
Victoria Evens

Dear Librarians,
Thank you for letting me and my class come to the library.  I learned a lot.  Oh and don’t worry I’m still reading.
Your friend,
Adam Goedken

Dear Librarian,
Thank you.  I liked the history on the building.  I learned the library was a YMCA.
Your friend,
Matt McMillan

Dear Librarians,
Thank you for letting us visit the public library.  You are very nice.  Can we visit you next year?
Your friend,
Clayton Thompson

Dear Librarians,
Thank you for reading to us.  Thank you for telling history about the librarian.  I learned that there were three stories.  I like the third story.
Your friend,
Eric Meyer

Dear Librarians,
Thank you for the bookmarks.  I liked when you read the books to us.  I love the library.
Your friend,
Chloe Henningsen
