Your Library Connection
Make
a Difference with a Gift to the Library
The Library is a worthy cause!
If you are considering donating to worthy causes over the holidays, put the
library on your short list. We can
always put monetary donations to good use, and that helps our patrons and our
community! As said by James
Michener, one of our great American Writers, “Public libraries have been a
mainstay of my life. They represent an individual’s right to acquire
knowledge; they are the sinews that bind civilized societies the world over.
Without libraries, I would be a pauper, intellectually and spiritually.”
Often libraries have been called the great equalizer.
Did you know that Americans spend more than three times as much on salty
snacks as they do on public libraries?
Give to a friend or relative and to the library!
Do you have something for everyone on your gift list for the holidays?
There are several people on my list that I can’t think of a thing they
need, or, at least nothing I can afford that I think that person would want.
Consider giving a donation to the library in that person’s name.
The donation would go towards collection (books, audiobooks, DVDs,
magazines, etc.) and programming (planning and offering events for our
community) if there is no specific purpose given when the donation is made.
If you have a certain item or program in mind, please specify when you
donate the money. Or if you would
like to donate to a different facility, please note that.
This works not only for the winter holidays, but for birthdays,
anniversaries, and memorials. The
library will send a notice to the person for whom the donation was made so that
he or she is made aware of the gift.
