Rob Robinson, President/CEO of Bank Iowa, Independence, has agreed to lead the Independence Public Library Capital Campaign as its Campaign Chair.
Robinson has recruited a Campaign Leadership Team consisting of 24 area residents. Members of the Campaign Leadership Team include: Rob Robinson, Chair, Bill Stamper, Library Board President, Craig Ankerstjerne, Laura Blaker, Connie Brown, Marty Brown, Sally Craig, Richard Engen, Lans Flickinger, Colette Greenley, Cheryl Hand, Bob Hill, Linda Hughes, Steve Kilgard, Mary Klotzbach, Dolph Leytze, Amy McGraw, Gary McClintock, Jacquie McTaggart, Paul Paisley, Mike Ruffcorn, Lisa Sanboeuf, Dorotha Sundquist, and Mark White.
“I am extremely pleased with these volunteers who have joined me to work on raising the funds to build a new Independence Public Library,” Robinson said. “After becoming knowledgeable about the library building project, volunteers will visit with library service area residents and businesses about this project and provide the opportunity to invest in this building project and campaign.”
A new Independence Public Library has been worked on for up to 15 years by area volunteers. The current Library Board of Trustees voted late last year to move forward with a capital campaign to fund a new library. A few years ago a library consultant determined the optimal size of an Independence Public Library to be approximately 17,185 to 18,864 square feet. Library trustees have worked with the City of Independence to plan a project and capital campaign to build a 14,200 square foot facility. Total costs for construction, campaign, architect and engineering, and other expenses total approximately $2.9 million.
