Library
Receives
CAT
Grant!

The Vision Iowa CAT Grant Board awarded a $550,000 grant to the Independence
Public Library Capital Campaign this week to help build a new library.
“We are extremely pleased with this grant award to our capital
campaign for a new library,” said Capital Campaign Chair, Rob Robinson. “As we
review various CAT Grants to other library projects, we notice that the
Independence Library grant is by far one of the highest in proportion to the
percentage toward our goal and the percentage of our requested amount. Campaign
volunteers believe this is due to the strength of this project and our
successful capital campaign progress so far. We believe Vision Iowa CAT Grant
Board members found quality in the Independence Library Project and Capital
Campaign,” Robinson said.
This CAT (Community Attraction and Tourism) Grant moves the Independence Library Capital Campaign to about 80 percent of its total campaign goal. Campaign volunteers continue to visit with area residents and businesses to communicate the importance of this project to the Independence area and how to invest in a new library through the capital campaign.
“It was very exciting at the Vision Iowa meeting this week when they voted to award such a large grant to this project,” said Bill Stamper, Library Board President. “Representing the people and businesses of the Independence area was truly an honor, and the opportunity to thank the Vision Iowa CAT Grant Board members for their tremendous investment in this community project was very gratifying,” Stamper said.
“This Vision Iowa CAT Grant challenges our campaign to reach its goal during the next 90 days,” said Robinson. “So of course, campaign volunteers will be visiting with residents and businesses asking for investment in this library project and campaign to assure the community receives the Vision Iowa Grant,” he said.
