Funds raised to the Independence Public Library Capital Campaign have now surpassed $2.5 million as they continue to come in from area contributors according to campaign officials.
“Volunteers continue to explain the new library building project and its capital fundraising campaign to area citizens and businesses,” said Ralph Savoy of Consult Savoy, Inc., Cedar Rapids. Savoy is the Capital Campaign Director. “Campaign volunteers including the Library Board of Directors are performing very well on this campaign,” Savoy said. “Recent gifts including some major gift support continue to move our campaign closer to the goal of approximately $3 million.”
Recently, the Campaign Leadership Team Chaired by Rob Robinson was joined by approximately 30 additional campaign volunteers. Those volunteers are trying to provide everyone in the library service area the opportunity to join in this capital campaign. Recent news of a $550,000 Vision Iowa CAT Grant has provided additional momentum to the volunteers and the capital campaign.
“Campaign volunteers want to make sure all area residents and businesses know about this library building project, the Vision Iowa CAT Grant, and why philanthropy is needed to build a new Independence Library,” Savoy said. “A community joining together to raise close to $3 million to build a community asset such as this library is a wonderful activity to be involved with and we see that happening with more gifts and pledges continuing to come in,” Savoy said.
“Many of our library patrons come to the library with obvious excitement about the new library project,” said Laura Blaker, Library Director. “People often mention the new library and the campaign, and have been cheering this project forward through financial and verbal support,” Blaker said.
